A 4-week, small group Learning Conversation for parents of teenagers
in two formats: face2face sessions in Berkeley, CA and teleclasses
Facilitated by Claudia L'Amoreaux

Is your teenager struggling with learning, school, social life, you? Would he or she like to be more self-directed, but is having a hard time getting there? Would you like to become a better advocate for your teenager's needs with teachers and administrators? Do you sense a more joyful way to live with your teen but don't know how to get from where you are now to where you'd like to be?

Some topics we'll explore:

  • moving conversations from conflict to empathy and understanding
  • nurturing autonomy, self-direction, responsibility, accountability
  • becoming a skillful and compassionate learning coach for your teenager
  • the whys and hows of rites of passage & vision quest
  • mind, body, spirit, sex and drugs
  • apprenticeship, homeschooling, unschooling, early college as paths

Our highly interactive Learning Conversation will draw on the work of Humberto Maturana (The Biology of Love), Mel Levine (A Mind at a Time, The Myth of Laziness), Elaine Aron (The Highly Sensitive Child), Ellen Langer (The Power of Mindful Learning), Marshall Rosenberg (Life-Serving Education, Raising Children Compassionately, NonViolent Communication) and Claudia's experience in 30 years of public, private and alternative education.
